Aims
The Medical Society advances its mission through three core aims designed to support meaningful, mission-driven work. Members contribute to projects aligned with their interests, experience, and professional goals.
Student & Trainee Support Aim
This Aim cultivates meaningful mentorship and networking opportunities that connect premedical students, medical students, and physicians-in-training from BYU and other institutions—both in the U.S. and around the world. Through these relationships, learners gain guidance, perspective, and support at every stage of their medical journey.
We also expand access to hands-on, experiential learning through the Summer Premedical Research Internship (SPRI) program, which places pre-med students in mentored research experiences at leading academic medical centers across the country. These immersive opportunities are designed to strengthen academic preparation, foster professional growth, and help students explore careers in medicine.

Global & Humanitarian Service Aim
This Aim seeks to promote Christ-centered volunteer service in underserved communities, guided by the First Presidency’s vision for the BYU School of Medicine and its global mission to heal, serve, and uplift. Through thoughtful, sustainable engagement, we seek to align medical service with discipleship, professionalism, and respect for local communities.
We partner with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ global humanitarian efforts, BYU’s Global Health programs, and like-minded healthcare organizations to support service opportunities that are ethical, collaborative, and focused on long-term impact.

Professional Development & Networking Aim
This Aim is building a global network of geographic chapters that foster connection, leadership, and service across diverse communities. Through these chapters, members will engage locally while contributing to a shared worldwide mission.
The society offers continuing education opportunities (including CME/CEU offerings and research updates) alongside fellowship and spiritual support that nurtures healers with an eternal perspective.
